Built in India
Built in India.
Data stays in India.
Every chat, file, and photo you send through ChatVia lives on servers inside India. Not as an enterprise add-on. Not as a regional cluster. As the product's spine.
Closer, so it's faster
ChatVia's servers are in Mumbai, India, today, not "at launch." That means shorter round-trips for users typing from Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, or Delhi than from the US-East infrastructure most messaging apps store Indian conversations on. We'll expand to additional Indian regions as we grow, and publish real-world latency numbers with the public launch. The design target is a median sync round-trip under 50 ms from tier-1 metros.
Local, so it aligns with how India is handling its data
India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP) and the broader policy direction on critical-sector data make "where does this conversation live" a question regulators, compliance officers, and ordinary users now ask. ChatVia's answer is "in India," every byte. Not "primarily." Not "with the option to." In India, by default.
For Indian businesses subject to DPDP obligations, ChatVia is intended to be the easy answer: internal team chat, client communication, customer support threads, and the records around them, all hosted under Indian law from day one. More on this: why this matters for Indian businesses →
Yours, so it doesn't sit on someone else's continent
Today's most-used messaging apps store Indian conversations on servers in the US, Europe, or Singapore, sometimes with regional caches, sometimes not, almost always under foreign jurisdiction. That's a real cost users have quietly absorbed. ChatVia removes it: no foreign primary, no cross-border data deals, no "we'll move to India next year" promise.
If you're outside India but talk to people inside it
Your conversations already cross the border every day, to family, friends, clients, teams. ChatVia means at least one end of that conversation is on infrastructure closer to it, governed by the legal regime where most of the other end lives. Diaspora accounts are first-class. Indian companies serving global users are first-class. "Built in India" is the structural commitment; it isn't an exclusion.
Built here, by people who live here
ChatVia is built by an Indian team out of India. The product decisions get made the same way users will experience them: through Indian networks, Indian phones, Indian SMB workflows, Indian UPI moments, Indian family group chats. For too long, communication apps have treated India as just another market. ChatVia is being built with India at its core.
"Permanent" and "in India," at the same time
Permanent storage in India is not the same as a backdoor. Today, message data is encrypted at rest and stored on India-resident infrastructure; "in India" governs the legal framework under which any access request is considered. The full end-to-end encryption model (where ciphertext is unreadable to ChatVia operators even with a court order) ships at v1.0. For the current posture and the v1.0 plan, see the security page.
